Vanuatu Prime Minister, Charlot Salwai, said youth in Vanuatu should be involve a lot in individual sports like weightlifting

Speaking to FM 107 at the ceremony of the Queens baton relay yesterday evening, Salwai said ” I am so surprised to see a 53 Kgs girl from PNG lift up 110kgs weight and won 3 gold medals…. we don’t have this in Vanuatu, now it is important for us to boost our involvement in such discipline to be present in all discipline during games”

He said Vanuatu government has put lots of effort to ensure the Pacific Mini Games is staged with all the standard it needs to have and the youth and sports authority must make use of them

” We have to ensure the commitment given from government is not wasted and Sports authorities in the country should encourage people to make use of the facility in place so that we see the importance to continue in investing for better facility in the future” added Salwai

The patron of Beach Volley-ball said he would like to see more medals for Team Vanuatu and more importantly on Beach Volley
