Want​ ​to​ ​see,​ ​hear​ ​and​ ​taste​ ​a​ ​ Pacific​ ​ Mini​ Games?

Then​ ​come​ ​to​ ​the​ ​free Games​ ​Test​ ​Event​ ​this​ ​Saturday​ ​at​ ​Korman.

After​ ​years​ ​of​ ​planning​ ​and​ ​preparation,​ ​Van2017​ ​wants​ ​see​ ​how​ ​the​ ​sport,​ ​culture,​ ​food​ ​and live​ ​entertainment​ ​all​ ​come​ ​together.

The​ ​Games​ ​is​ ​heralded​ ​as​ ​the​ ​nation’s​ ​greatest​ ​ever​ ​event​ ​with​ ​more​ ​than​ ​2000​ ​athletes​ ​and 23​ ​nations​ ​joining​ ​for​ ​11​ ​days​ ​of​ ​sport.

Before​ ​the​ ​Pacific​ ​guests​ ​arrive,​ ​Van2017​ ​would like​ ​to​ ​give​ ​the​ ​people​ ​of​ ​Vanuatu​ ​a​ ​chance​ ​to​ ​see the​ ​world-class​ ​facilities​ ​in​ ​action​ ​and​ ​get​ ​a​ ​teaser​ ​for​ ​what’s​ ​to​ ​come.

The​ ​free​ ​test​ ​events​ ​starts​ ​at​ ​9am in the Festival Village area; there​ ​is​ ​the​ ​launch​ ​of​ ​​16​ ​Days​ ​of​ ​Activism​​ ​-​ ​supporting​ ​the national​ ​programme​ ​in​ ​the​ ​stand​ ​against​ ​​​violence​ ​to​ ​women,​ ​empowering​ ​​ ​women​ ​and advocating​ ​​ ​gender​ ​balance.​ ​Director​ ​of​ ​Women’s​ ​Affairs,​ ​Dorosday​ ​Kenneth​ ​will​ ​give​ ​a welcome​ ​speech,​ ​Conflictions​ ​will​ ​debut​ ​“Keep​ ​Moving​ ​On”​ ​featuring​ ​Jaimeen​ ​Kenni,​ ​followed by​ ​a​ ​performance​ ​from​ ​New​ ​Generation.

There​ ​will​ ​also​ ​be​ ​a​ ​call​ ​to​ ​action​ ​for​ ​a​ ​public​ ​pledge:​ ​STANAP​ ​STRONG​ ​AKENSEM​ ​VAELENS. Many​ ​prominent​ ​and​ ​public​ ​figures​ ​and​ ​agency​ ​representatives​ ​​ ​will​ ​take​ ​the​ ​pledge​ ​including​ ​1​st President​ ​of​ ​Vanuatu​ ​Ati​ ​George​ ​Sokomanu,​ ​songstress​ ​Vanessa​ ​Quai​ ​and​ ​Games​ ​mascot Emily​ ​Pawa​ ​​ ​(Em​ ​Pawa).

The​ ​gates​ to Korman Stadium ​will​ ​open​ ​to​ ​the​ ​general​ ​public​ ​from​ ​11am,​ ​with​ ​sports​ ​events​ ​starting​ ​at​ ​12pm.​ ​​ ​On the​ ​schedule​ ​is​ ​Tennis,​ ​Netball,​ ​Table​ ​Tennis,​ ​Beach​ ​Volley​ ​Ball,​ ​Archery,​ ​Boxing​ ​and​ ​Karate.

The​ ​launch​ ​and​ ​reveal​ ​of​ ​the​ ​limited​ ​edition​ ​​postage​ ​stamps​​ ​will​ ​be​ ​at​ ​3pm​ ​in​ ​Korman​ ​1.​ ​Do​ ​not miss​ ​this​ ​chance​ ​to​ ​secure​ ​a​ ​first​ ​day​ ​cover​ ​or​ ​a​ ​commemorative​ ​sleeve​ ​as​ ​these​ ​may​ ​sell-out.

Then​ ​there’s​ ​a​ ​chance​ ​of​ ​pace​ ​and​ ​Korman​ ​becomes​ ​a​ ​​music​ ​festival​.​ ​Well​ ​known​ ​soloist Zaddock​ ​will​ ​open​ ​the​ ​session​ ​at​ ​6pm.​ ​​ ​Then​ ​the​ ​debut​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Ifira​ ​Choir,​ ​followed​ ​by​ ​reggae with​ ​a​ ​conscience​ ​Groove​ ​Gang​ ​and​ ​closing​ ​act​ ​will​ ​be​ ​the​ ​rising​ ​talent​ ​of​ ​Tujah.

During​ ​the​ ​day​ ​other​ ​activities​ ​include​ ​a​ ​mini​ ​kids​ ​fun​ ​zone,​ ​random​ ​giveaways​ ​&​ ​prizes,​ ​food stalls​ ​and​ ​chance​ ​to​ ​meet​ ​Games’​ ​mascots​ ​Nasi​ ​and​ ​Em​ ​Pawa.​ ​Maybe​ ​even​ ​a​ ​quick​ ​photo​ ​with a​ ​Games​ ​athlete.

The​ ​main​ ​event​ ​(the​ ​Games)​ ​starts​ ​on the 4th December,​ ​but​ ​this​ ​Saturday​, the 25th November, ​everyone​ ​can​ ​sample​ ​the​ ​sport, food​ ​and​ ​entertainment-styles​ ​which​ ​will​ ​be​ ​on​ ​offer.

Tickets to the Games and Opening Ceremonies, and other days will also be available for sale. Please note it is cash vatu only. You don’t want to miss out on the biggest Sporting event Vanuatu has ever experienced.

The​ ​Test​ ​Event​ ​is​ ​free.​ ​Entry​ ​points​ ​via​ ​the​ ​Festival​ ​Village​ ​Gate​ ​@​ ​Korman round-a-bout.​ ​​​ ​​Security​ ​restrictions​ ​will​ ​apply. Parking is very limited in allocated public parking lots only.
